Detailed information on the use of cookies and consent to their use

Definitions

Cookies are short text files (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (the browser) for reuse during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later, even days later (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, based on user preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone). Similar technologies can be used to collect information on user behavior and use of services.

In the remainder of this document we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies simply using the term “cookies”.

Types of cookies

Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, we can distinguish different categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of our site and are used to manage logins and access to the site's restricted functions, generally to speed up, improve, or personalize the level of service provided to users. Cookies either last strictly for the duration of the session (they are deleted once the browser ), or they last longer and are used to recognize the visitor's computer. Disabling them may compromise the use of services accessible by logging in, while the public area of the site remains usable as normal.
  • Analytics and performance cookies. These cookies are used to anonymously collect and analyze site traffic and usage. These cookies, even without identifying the user, allow us, for example, to detect whether the same user returns to the site at different times. They also allow us to monitor the system and improve its performance and usability. Disabling these cookies can be done without any loss of functionality.
  • Profiling cookies. These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or otherwise) user preferences and improve their browsing experience. These cookies are then used to send advertising messages consistent with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet.

Third-party cookies

When visiting a website, you may receive cookies from both the visited site ("owner") and from sites managed by other organizations ("third parties"). One example is the presence of "social plugins" (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+) for sharing content on social networks. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by the relevant policies, to which you are advised to refer.

Cookie management

The user can decide whether or not to accept cookies using the settings on their browser.

Warning: Totally or partially disabling technical cookies may compromise the use of the site's features reserved for registered users. However, public content can still be accessed even when cookies are completely disabled.

Disabling third-party cookies does not affect navigation in any way. This setting can be adjusted specifically for different websites and web applications. Furthermore, the best browsers allow you to define different settings for first-party and third-party cookies.

For example, in Google Chrome, click the wrench icon in the upper right corner and select "Settings." Then select "Show advanced settings" and change the Privacy settings.

WHICH COOKIES ARE MANAGED BY THE SITE

Some information, even if not collected to be associated with identified data subjects, could, by its very nature, allow the user to be identified through processing or association.
This category includes the IP addresses of computers used by users connecting to the Site, the URL of requested resources, the time of the request, the size of the file obtained in response, etc.
This data is used to:

  • obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the Site (such as, in particular, the number of accesses), to check its correct functioning, to speed up, improve or personalize the level of service to users and are deleted immediately after processing.
  • carry out customer profiling activities for marketing purposes, through the management of third-party cookies.

In both cases, providing information is optional; refusal to provide such data, or blocking cookies or other software components, may prevent us from sending the requested information and/or may prevent the site from functioning properly.
The data collected will be processed exclusively by designated company personnel and will not be transferred or disclosed to other parties.
The data may be used to determine liability in the event of alleged cybercrime against the Site or third parties. Except for this eventuality, web contact data is not currently retained permanently.
